He’s clearly upset about her being gone, since this is one of the only times we see his sadface sprite, but he doesn’t seem willing to ask the player to bring her back. So I expected him to ask if the player could bring Undyne back, like he does with Alphys and Asgore in the Betrayed Undyne ending. Two, holy shit is Mettaton seriously executing people who don’t like his show? WTF. Technically, he’s wrong about what happened to Undyne, but this is a pretty dark connection he’s making here. He certainly isn’t dumb, but he’s generally known for coming to the wrong conclusion and assuming the best at all times. One, this is a really insightful comment from Papyrus. There are two things I’m taking away from this. Maybe he’s a bodyguard? That seems like a good job for Papyrus, actually. I wonder if he’s just there to “stand around and look cute”, like with the Undyne ending? All he talks about here is his outfit, and Mettaton apparently makes Burgerpants wear different outfits pretty often, so it doesn’t seem that out of character. So Sans is a bouncer, but Papyrus doesn’t say anything about his responsibilities. Here’s what Papyrus has to say about his job: So Mettaton refers to Papyrus as his “other agent” (Sans is also his agent) when he passes the phone over. Who came up with idea first? Papyrus or Mettaton? I love the idea of Papyrus suggesting this to Mettaton (although he’d also say this if you kill Papyrus, so idk) I didn’t get caps of the whole thing, just the Papyrus parts, but the Papyrus part alone is pretty striking. Then she’s so determined to kill you that Papyrus tells you /not/ to come back to the Underground.) (Except when you befriend Undyne and kill monsters, but spare Mettaton. Even if it means Undyne will kill them, it’s totally worth the risk. I love how Papyrus’s goal at all times is to get to the surface so he can see the human again. How would I know? Seriously, why is Papyrus asking the player this? Does he assume that they can see the room he’s in? “That seems to be the best way”… because it worked on Frisk? Is he pretending not to remember in order to give Sans a specific impression? I’d guess that using puzzles was Papyrus’s idea at the very least. Secondly, why does Papyrus ask Sans to remind him of what the policy is? Did he really not remember? Whose idea was it in the first place? This almost seems to imply that Sans came up with it (or someone else, just not Papyrus). So the Papyrus ending has been discussed a lot already, but there’s one thing I noticed that I wanted to bring up, because I’m not sure if anyone else has called attention to it.įirst off, that actually seems like a pretty good policy compared to the other endings. I backtracked to hang out with Papyrus, then checked Undyne’s house to see if he was there. Also, Sans wasn’t sleeping at his station. After I killed Undyne, I got this phone call (hadn’t done the Papyrus hangout yet):Īwkward. There was much suffering involved.īefore I get to the endings, here are some quality moments during the actual playthrough. Since I’m apparently a sadist, I just did a playthrough where I got both of these endings (kill Toriel and Undyne, save before fighting Mettaton, get one ending by either killing or sparing Mettaton and then fighting Asgore, reload, get the other ending). There’s the Mettaton ending, where Mettaton takes over and Undyne and Alphys are both dead, and the King Papyrus ending that we all know and love. So as far as I can tell, there are two other Sad Papyrus™ endings besides the Betrayed Undyne ending.
